04 November 2019:
Google, today launched it’s rewards program – Play Points in US. The program is already live in Japan and South Korea.
After opting in this program, users will earn Play Points on everything they buy with Google Play, including in-app items, movies, books, subscriptions and more.
Users can also earen some points by downloading select free apps. There is also a “Weekly Prize” that nets users free points on higher tiers.
Google Play Points has four levels – Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. The points earned by users depend on these levels. Users move up from $1 = 1 point to a dollar netting them 1.1, 1.2, or 1.4 points. Higher levels have perks like weekly prizes.
Users will also be able to buy in-game items, with some developers offering goods that can only be acquired via Play Points.
Users can also use Play Points for Google Play Credit and rent an award-winning movie or buy a best-selling audiobook.
The company has added a new “Play Points” page in Google Play. This page is accessible from Google Play’s navigation drawer. The points total and current tier of users is noted in the top-right corner.
Google Play Points will be available over the next week. The program is free to join, and users will earn three times the Play Points on everything you buy your first week.
